    Article published in response to a November 2010 proposal by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) to initiate a Pilot Loss Share Agreement Program to replicate a strategy used by the FDIC to resolve failed banks. The article highlights how an acquirer can reposition a failed financial institution in two to three years with an experienced team of real estate, legal, and accounting professionals.
  • A Government Initiative That Actually Offers Growth Opportunities, Credit Union Journal, June 6, 2011.
    Article highlights a potential growth opportunity related to the Department of the Treasury’s GoDirect public education campaign to inform entitled Social Security and other federal retirement beneficiaries that as of May 1, 2011 benefits will be paid electronically by direct deposit to a credit union or bank account or a prepaid debit Master Card. The article illustrates potential deposits of benefits from multiple federal programs that can be used to fund an electronic deposit account for federal benefit recipients.

Muriel Watkins joins the Small Business Administration Regional Regulatory Fairness Board

Muriel Watkins, President of MW Financial Inc., has been appointed to serve as a member of the Small Business Administration (SBA) Regional Regulatory Fairness Board representing the District of Columbia for Region III (Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia). The Regional Regulatory Fairness (RegFair) Boards support the SBA Office of the National Ombudsman on concerns of small businesses related to regulatory enforcement (audits, onsite inspections) and compliance actions of federal agencies, pursuant to the Small Business Regulatory Enforcement Act of 1996 (SBREFA). The RegFair Boards work with the SBA District offices and Regional SBA staff to facilitate sharing concerns raised by small businesses and conducting forums, roundtables and hearings in their region.
